A Vision Fulfilled

Our Story

The name “Mercy Gate” comes from “Ibode Aanu” revealed to Pastor Akinfiresoye on a mountain of prayer, a vision of a ministry where people would encounter God's mercy and discover their purpose.

“Thus far the LORD has helped us.”1 Samuel 7:12

24 Dec 1997

Pastor Akinfiresoye surrenders his life to Jesus Christ, joining the Redeemed Christian Church of God the beginning of a life devoted to serving God.

18 Sept 2015

On a mountain of prayer, God gives the name of the ministry “Ibode Aanu,” meaning “Mercy Gate,” and the instruction to start a church.

9 Apr 2017

Mercy Gate Christian Fellowship holds its inaugural worship service at the National Library, Akure, with fifteen worshippers in attendance.

28 Nov 2025

By God's faithfulness, Mercy Gate moves into its permanent church auditorium a living testimony to a vision God began on a mountaintop.

Mercy Gate Christian Fellowship

Resident Pastor, Mercy Gate Christian Fellowship

A registered engineer, Ph.D. holder, and Principal Lecturer in Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering, Pastor Akinfiresoye spent years in banking before resigning in 2015 to answer God's call into full-time ministry. He previously served the Ondo State Government House Chapel as Assistant Chaplain (2005–2009) and Chaplain (2009–2017).

In 2017, he founded Mercy Gate Christian Fellowship, which he leads today as a Teaching and Praying Ministry committed to sound biblical teaching, fervent prayer, and discipleship. He is happily married to Faith Ayinkelolami, his partner in life and ministry, and their marriage is blessed with wonderful children.
